My Life Without You

It had been a week since Alfred and Arthur had broken up. A painful week where Alfred tried to avoid Arthur and ignore any questions that Arthur's older brother asked him during football practice. In fact, it was somewhat easy to ignore him, since there was a new student on the team. He was a transfer student, with crazy messy hair and a thick accent. His name was Matthias or something like that and Alfred hoped that they would be able to get along.

The week hadn't been much better for Arthur. He felt awful about what had happened and tried to make his heart stop hurting by doing more work then neccessary. His brothers were asking him nonstop what was wrong but Arthur didn't feel like answering them at all.
Since he'd broken up with Alfred there was no need to go to the football practices anymore. Well there hadn't been a real reason before but seeing his brother wasn't worth meeting Alfred as well. But by the end of the week he didn't have a choice. There were a few things he had to discuss with the trainer, his brother, so he had to go. -Hopefully he's not here today.- Arthur thought.

Unfortunately for Arthur, Alfred was at practice. He was the star quarterback after all, so he wasn't about to miss a minute of practice time. He also needed to talk to Matthias, to get a feel for what the older player was good at. So, as he was talking with Matthias, he tried not to notice Arthur walk onto the field. His heart ached for the other teen but it was nothing compared to the way it shattered when he watched Matthias run over to Arthur and grab him in a giant hug.

Arthur had been talking to his brother, trying as hard as he could not to look over to the field, when he suddenly found himself in a thight but gentle embrace. He didn't realize who it was at first but after a few seconds he noticed a familiar smell and looked up, eyes wide with shock. "M-Matthias?" He asked a bit scared and unbelieving. Was someone trying to play a prank? "Is that...really you?" Arthur could feel his heart racing in his chest when he looked up into those blue eyes he's missed for so long.

"Of course it's me, ya idiot! I wanted to surprised ya, so I didn't tell you I was coming! But I transferred here because of you!" Matthias pulled Arthur closer, not giving a care in the world about all the eyes watching him. He had missed Arthur for so long that he had convinced his parents to let him come to the States and study at the same school as Arthur. "I couldn't stop thinking about ya..."

Across the field, Alfred's shattered heart ached and he fled, feeling as though he was going to throw up.

Arthur could feel tears welling up in his eyes at those words. He hated to show affection in public epecally when he was with a boyfriend but he didn't care this time. His heart felt like soaring and he couldn't help himself so he wrapped his arms around the older boy and pressed his face on his chest. "Then why did it take you so long to come back?" Arthur sobbed a little. He knew it was rude but that was his weird way to show Matthias how much he'd missed him.

Grinning, Matthias pressed a kiss to the top of Arthur's head as he held the other teen close. "I'm sorry I couldn't come back sooner... Trust me, I tried! But my parents were really stubborn, so it took a lot of convincing!" He smiled at pulled back a bit to look at Arthur. "I missed you so much, Arthur... I really did."

"I missed you too you sodding idiot." Arthur smiled rubbing his eyes to get rid of the tears. "I'm so happy to see you." For this moment the younger teen had forgotten all around him even Alfred who he saw running away in the corner of his eyes. "I...I have some stuff to do right now but, let's meet after your training is finished. I'll wait at the dorms. The room's number 215."

Matthias grinned like an idiot and he nodded. "I promise I'll be there tonight, Arthur! We have so much to catch up on!" He gave the Brit another bone crushing hug before running back out to the practice field with a stupid grin on his face.

Meanwhile, Alfred had made it back to his dorm room and had tried to curl up in bed when his brother stopped him. Matthew's concerned look sent Alfred into another wave of tears and he clung to his twin, yelling about how love sucked.

"Why don't you come to hockey practice with me?" Matthew asked softly, stroking Alfred's hair in an attempt to calm down his twin. "My friend wants to meet you anyway. He says he can't imagine a loud and obnoxious version of me." He grinned a little at Alfred's insulted face before dragging his brother to the bathroom. "Wash up and then we'll leave, okay? Maybe it'll do you some good to just relax and watch some sports."

The youngest of the Kirkland brothers felt like he was in heaven. He'd dreamed about this for the past three years and finally his dream came true. Arthur was so full of joy that he didn't even notice the worried looks his brother gave him while he walked back to the school building.
To be frank his brothers had liked Matthias back in the old days, well as much as you could like your youngest brothers boyfriend. But after he'd gone back to Europe and almost broke Arthurs heart they had started to hate him with a passion that knew no boundaries. That had also been the reason why Matthias wasn't back on his Quarter Back possition in the team. Scott had only accepted it because his co-trainer forced him to.

Matthias was happy by the end of practice, even though he could tell that Scott was still pretty pissed off at him. It wasn't his fault that he had to leave Arthur! His parents had made him! If he had had a choice, he would have stayed behind in the States just to be with Arthur. But none of that mattered now, because it was the past and this was the present and he had Arthur again.

After some more pestering from Matthew, Alfred finally agreed to go watch his brother's hockey practice. They walked in silence to the ice rink and once they got there, Alfred hid at the top of the stands, watching the practice with some interest. He liked hockey well enough but right now, all he could think about was Arthur...

Arthur had managed to finish his work in what felt like no time at all. He waited in his room anxiously. -What if he doesn't show up? Maybe he's changing his mind now that he's seen me again.- He thought biting his nails.

Ivan had been eager to meet Matthew brother for quite some time. He really couldn't imagine that there was someone looking almost exactely like him but have a completely different character. He was curious about that person and also wanted to make a new friend. He was always pretty bad at that because people tended to misunderstand him but he had the hope that, if it was the brother of his friend, he could make friends with him as well. So after the practice was finished he went up the stands to meet Alfred. "Hello. I'm Ivan, nice to meet you." He greeted friendly.

Of course Matthias showed up, all grins and messy hair, holding a bouquet of red roses out to Arthur when the shorter teen opened the door. "I hope you like them!"

Alfred stared at the hockey practice, his thoughts on a certain blond Englishman, when he was brought out of his stupor by someone introducing themselves. He glanced up and was surprised that he hadn't noticed the student until he spoke. The guy was taller than Alfred and it was hard not to stare. Thankfully, he remembered his manners and forced a small smile onto his face. "I'm Alfred. I'm guessing that you're Mattie's friend, right?" Which made him wonder how his quiet brother had become friends with this giant.

Arthur stared at the roses for a moment before taking them. "They're beautiful." He smiled brightly at Matthias and let him closing the door behind them. As soon as they were alone he placed the flowers carelessly on a table and ran into the others arms kissing him passionately. Arthur had thought he were over and done with this guy but the moment their lips met he realized that he'd been lying to himself all the time.

Ivan smiled brightly and blushed a little bit. "Yes I am. And it would be nice if we could be good friends too Alfred." He said shaking the blond teens hand. "You're brother talks a lot about you and I was really curious to meet you." Ivan really was excited and when he got excited he started to babble which most people found weird or annoying but he just couldn't help himself.

Matthias grinned as Arthur accepted the roses before he was pulled into the dorm room. Before he could say anything else, Arthur was in his arms and kissing him senseless. God, he had really missed the other so, so much...

"You want to be my friend?" Alfred's eyes widened as he stared at Ivan, confused. Why would someone want to be his friend? He doubted that he looked very friendly right now, with how depressed he was... But the taller teen seemed so genuine that he couldn't help but smile at him. "Sure, Ivan. We can be friends."

Arthur felt so entirely happy that he almost believed that he was dreaming. He forced himself to let go of Matthias lips so that he could look at him. "Tell me that this isn't a dream. That I'm not going to wake up in my room all alone in the morning." He almost begged.

Ivan beamed at Alfreds nice words. Someone actually wanted to be his friend. He was so happy. "That's great. Let's be good friends Alfred." The russian said and grabbed Alfreds hand eagerly.

Matthias laughed softly when Arthur broke the kiss and he shook his head. "This isn't a dream, I promise. You can pinch yourself if you want proof. Or I could just kiss you again." Which is exactly what he did, holding Arthur close to him.

Alfred's eyes widened slightly when his hand was grabbed but he couldn't help but smile. Ivan's enthusiasm over their new friendship was endearing and he shook Ivan's hand.

So it really wasn't a dream. Arthur felt like crying and laughing at the same time. He chuckled a bit and pulled Matthias to his bed where they could lay down. All he wanted to do right now was cuddling to this man and never get seperated from him again.

The big russian boy was so happy. "That's nice. Would you like to go out with me and the team? We decided to go drinking tonight." He asked.

Letting himself be dragged, Matthias kicked off his shoes and joined Arthur on the bed. He snuggled the other, petting his hair and smiling at how happy Arthur looked. "I missed ya, Artie... I'm so glad I could finally come back to you."

Still smiling, Alfred thought about the offer for a moment. He knew that his brother liked to go out drinking sometimes, even if they were underage, but well... he had nothing else to do. And Ivan really seemed to want a friend... "Sure, why not? I have nothing else to do anyway." He smiled and stood up before saying, "Lead the way, big guy."

"I missed you too. I missed you so much I couldn't stand it." Arthur whispered, almost desperately. He remembered the last few years he'd been alone and not so alone. Now that Matthias was back he felt guilty for all those things he did while he was gone.

Ivan laughed and patted his shoulder. "You're as funny as I thought. Come on let's go." He said smiling, dragging Alfred along. About half an hour later they were all seated in a nice little pub and enjoyed their drinks.

Matthias nuzzled Arthur, smiling a little. He didn't care what Arthur had done while he was gone. All he cared about was that they were back together and Arthur still loved him as much as Matthias loved Arthur. "I'm so glad to be here... Artie, I still love ya so much."

"'Course I'm funny. Funnier than Mattie, at least." Alfred grinned and allowed himself to be dragged to the pub. He hardly ever drank but tonight, he wanted to forget. Wanted to forget seeing Arthur being held by Matthias and the way Arthur had refused to return his love. So, Alfred drowned himself in alcohol, which, unfortunately, made him overly friendly with everyone. He was currently hugging one of Ivan's arms and mumbling about how pretty Ivan's hair was as Matthew simply rolled his eyes.

"I love you too." Arthur said happily but suddenly felt a sharp pain in his heart. He just said that he loved someone and it came over his lips so easily. Arthur had to think about Alfred and how he couldn't say it to him. Suddenly he felt really awfull.

Ivan had lots of fun talking and laughing with Alfred. He enjoyed being complimented like this. "You sure are nice Alfred but you're brother was right. You're very different from him. But in a good way." He laughed.

Noticing a change in his love, Matthias frowned and nuzzled against Arthur. "What's wrong? You seem upset all of a sudden... I hope it's not something I did..." They had just gotten back together, so he didn't think that he had done anything wrong...

Alfred grinned at Ivan and nuzzled his arm, before attempting to kiss the taller boy's cheek. Matthew was instantly on him and pulling Alfred away, sending an apologetic look at Ivan. "Sorry, man, Al doesn't handle his alcohol very well..."

Arthur shook his head. "No luv...nothing you did." He sighed and hid his face on his boyfriends chest. "I was just...an arse...like always."

Ivan blushed heavily when Alfred suddenly kissed his neck and he was a bit glad that Matthew helped him out. "N-no problem Matt. I was just surprised. I didn't think your brother would be...this straight forward." He laughed it off.

Matthias gently ran his fingers through Arthur's hair, trying to calm down the other teen. "I'm sure that, whatever happened, you can fix it someday... Apologize and try to be friends with them? I'm sure it wasn't that bad," he said, oblivious to the fact that his quarterback was in love with his Arthur.

Alfred whined as he was pulled away by his brother and he sulked, leaning against Matthew and poking his brother. "You're soooo mean, Mattie."

Matthew simply swatted at Alfred's hands and rolled his eyes. "I'm not mean, Alfred. I'm just not about to let you turn my friend into a drunken rebound, okay?" He sighed when Alfred turned a glare at him but he didn't take back what he said.
