Not in Kansas Anymore [QB and Farmboy]

It was just another normal school day for Alfred F. Jones. He had his classes and then football practice. Everything was completely normal, until after he got out of the shower. He was getting dressed in sweatpants and a long shirt, getting ready to study before bed when he felt a strange tugging on the back of his neck. It felt like someone was tugging at the back of his hair and he looked behind him, seeing no one.

Of course there was no one there. Why would there be? Matthew wasn’t back from… wherever he was, so he was the only one in his dorm room. Ignoring the tugging feeling, Alfred went to make himself a snack before studying.

It wasn’t until he had started his math homework that the tugging feeling got worse. He rubbed at the back of his neck and stretched, when the tugging feeling suddenly changed to that of falling.

Alfred’s eyes widened and he looked down, watching as the ground suddenly came rushing up to him. He was aiming for a giant pile of hay, so hopefully he wouldn’t be hurt too badly. Wait, hay…?

“What the hellllllll?!” Alfred yelled as he went falling into the hay. He was totally not at school anymore.

Alfred was doing his usual routine. Waking up just before the sun rose, got dress, silently left the house, fed the farm animals then go eat breakfast himself after his adopted mother woke up and made breakfast. The rest of the day he took care of the animals, taking the animals out of the barn, cleaning them and feeding them again.

The sun was setting and Alfred was alone walking in the field of piled hay. He yawned, tired. He needed to go back to the house and go to bed but he couldn’t get over this weird feeling. So he came here.

Suddenly he heard a nosie coming from one of the hay piles. He ran to it. As he reached it his eyes widen.

Falling into a pile of was not nearly as comfortable as Alfred thought it would be but thankfully, it broke his fall. He sat up slightly, stretching carefully to check and see if anything was broken. Nothing was hurting, so that was definitely a good sign.

He stumbled out of the hay, only to come face to face with... himself? Blinking a couple times, Alfred squinted, removed his glasses, cleaned them, put them back on and squinted once more. Nope, he was definitely looking at himself. Somehow.

It wasn't a mirror because this other him was wearing different clothes, so maybe Matthew was playing a mean prank on him.

"Matt?"

Alfred couldn’t believe what he was seeing. In front of him was himself but wearing strange clothes and something on his face, hiding his eyes. What were they called? Glasses?

Hearing his double saying Matt, he was more confused. Was he calling him Matt? Got to be, he the only one here with this stranger that looked like him.

“Matt? My name not Matt. It’s Alfred.” Alfred said.

"You're... not Matt?" Well, that kinda made sense, because even if Matthew was pretending to be him, Alfred's twin still needed glasses, or else he'd be pretty darn blind. So... that meant this really was another Alfred? But how?

"Dude... your name is Alfred too? Seriously, what the hell? How can there be two of me? Two of you? I dunno, this is confusing!" With a pout, he brushed off some of the hay that had clung to his clothes before looking around. "Where did my school go...?"

“Really? I don’t know how this happen but this is cool! Never met another me before with the same name. ” he smiled. Then the smile faded and turned confused. “School?”

"I guess this is kind of cool... I've never met another me, either, which makes me wonder how I got here!" Alfred laughed nervously and looked around. "Yeah, I was in my dorm room and school and I suddenly ended up here!"

Alfred was confused about what his double was talking about. School? Well he heard of about schools before, but there were only few and far, far a way from this division of the kingdom Alfred lived in. Dorm Room? No clue what that is.

“I don’t know much of what you’re talking about but you’re on my mother’s farm now,” Alfred said. He scratched his head thinking. “How you got to your school to here, I don’t know. I’m guessing it was magic.”

Alfred glanced around the farm, frowning slightly. There really was nothing around here that looked like it could be his school. All he saw was farmland as far as his eyes could see. Sighing softly, he turned his attention back to the other Alfred.

"Wait, magic? Are you serious? But magic doesn't exist. That's just the stuff of stories!" Even as he denied it, Alfred couldn't think of any other way that he could have gotten here.

Alfred tiled his head. Where did this double came from if he says magic doesn’t exist?

“Yes, I am. Magic does exist. It not just in stories here.”

"You're serious? Because that makes no sense. Magic is just stuff in fiction! Maybe someone created a device that could find parallel universes... Y'know, science stuff." There was just no way he was going to admit that magic existed.

“Science? Do you mean alchemy? I heard of that, but I never heard of anyone doing alchemy.” This guy seem like a hard one to convince. Alfred thought that he many need to do something to make this his other believe magic was not fictional. But he didn’t know any magic spell or could do any magic.

"Alchemy? Dude, everyone knows that was just a forerunner to chemistry!" Alfred grinned, feeling like he could finally tell someone about his love of science. Even if that someone was a version of himself. That believed in magic. This was just getting to be a really weird day.

Alfred, still confused, tiled his head the other way. “A forerunner?”

Then he looked at the sky. It was almost fully dark. “Well maybe, we can continue this conversation later. It soon going to be fully dark out. Your welcome to stay at my house until we figure how you got here and send you back to your school.” Alfred glanced at his double then started walking to his house.

"Yeah, y'know, something that came before something else? Alchemy is just old school chemistry."

Alfred glanced up at the sky as well before looking around one last time. It really was getting dark and all he was wearing was a pair of sweats and a shirt. It would definitely get cold if he stayed out here. "That sounds like a good idea. And it'll keep me warm." Wriggling his bare toes, he brushed off a few stray straw pieces before following the other Alfred to a house.

In a few minutes, Alfred and his double arrived at the back of his house. Slowly he opened the door seeking in the kitchen. He scanned the room then looked at other.

“Come in, it seems my mother is not around,” Alfred said. “Come, I’ll let you sleep in my bed tonight.” Quietly he went up stairs with the double following, down the hall in his room, shutting the door after the other Alfred came in.

Alfred felt rather silly sneaking around but he supposed that if this Alfred's mother started seeing two of her son, that would probably freak her out. Especially since this version of himself didn't seem to have a twin.

"Thanks..." He was rather tired and he supposed that they could wait to figure out what had happened in the morning. Yawning, he was actually glad that he was in his pajamas. It would make sleeping better.

Alfred went to his drawer and grabbed this nightgown. “Do you mind if I changed in here or do you want me to change some place else?”

"I don't care. I mean, if you really are my double, it's nothing I haven't seen." Alfred laughed a little, though he could feel his face heating up. "Um... are you sure you want me to share your bed? I can just sleep on the floor. It's no big deal, really."

“Okay.” Alfred took off his clothes, throwing them in closet, for now, and put on his nightgown. “Nah, it’s ok. You’re a guest here; I can’t let a guest sleep on the floor. Plus you’re my double, so it not really weird that another me is sleeping on my bed.”

Alfred laughed softly and sat on the bed, waiting for the other Alfred to get changed. "I guess not. Well, I mean it is weird that there's two Alfreds but I guess sharing a bed won't be too bad. Your bed looks big enough, anyway." Smiling a little, he laid down. "Which side do you sleep on? I don't wanna steal it from you, dude."

“The right side,” Alfred said as he walked to the side of the bed and laid down next to his double. “I want the side where the window is.”

"Alright." Alfred smiled and rolled to the other side, making room for his double. "I guess we'll try to figure things out in the morning, right? I mean, I'm pretty sure my brother is worried about me..."

Alfred looked at other. “We’ll figure out something to get you back, I promised.”

He lay his head down on one of the pillow and pulled the blanket, covering both of them. “Good night.”

A few minutes later, Alfred was asleep.

"I know... And thank you." Alfred smiled over at his double, curling up under the blanket. It was a bit crowded in the bed but it wasn't uncomfortable. Within minutes of getting comfortable, he was fast asleep as well.

It wasn't until the sun rose and shone through the window that Alfred stirred, grumbling for his brother to close the damn blinds.
